Delta Ecology Institute
Grades K-12

The Delta Ecology Institute is a three day workshop where educators learn about the San Joaquin Delta. The course includes a bus tour, a curriculum and a presentation night.

AIR QUALITY LESSON PLANS

Lesson Plan - Grade 6

Students will learn about regional current and historic air quality in California. Then students will learn about the most common sources of air pollution and their effects.  Then students will develop a short term plan to monitor and reduce the regional air pollution.  To view the lesson plan, click HERE.

Lesson Plan - Grade 7

The goal of this lesson sequence is for students to consider how best to provide Californians with transportation with minimal impact on human health and the environment. To view the lesson plan, click HERE.

Lesson Plan - grade 8

In this lesson Air Pollution from Agriculture in California’s Central Valley is explored and students consider how an increase in human population will affect the future. To view the lesson plan, click HERE.
We envision a future when children, community, schools and teachers will embrace the goals of the Next Generation Science Standards. Every child will engage in student-centered, inquiry-based STEM education while addressing local and global challenges. These experience will inspire innovative, ecologically and technologically literate lifelong learners, community members and STEM professionals.
