Durham Ferry Home

The Durham Ferry Outdoor Education Center is looking for volunteers who are passionate about nature and would like to share their love for the outdoors with elementary school students. We are looking for college students, preservice teachers, retirees, students in home school programs, parents who would like to get involved, and others!
Durham Ferry volunteers will help facilitate hands-on learning stations during field trips for students in grades 3 - 5. No background in education or science is required, just a passion for sharing nature with children! Training will be provided by experienced educators, and the time commitment is flexible. State law requires that all volunteers undergo a fingerprint background check and possess a clear TB screen. Volunteers will be required to work outside in the elements and must be able to walk on uneven surfaces.
